Two restaurants share the street number 5070 Peachtree Boulevard. Fúdo is in Suite A-100, and its sushi bar is serving on its usual weekday hours. The Alden was in building B, behind the temporary fencing that went up after the Mother's Day fire.
Six months after May 10, the Parkview on Peachtree stretch has a different shape. Building B was the quick, casual end of the strip, with burgers, tacos, bowls, gelato and cookies, plus The Alden's chef's counter. All of it went dark. The two restaurants still serving are sit-down dinner rooms. Burgers and sandwiches have moved a few blocks down Peachtree Boulevard, into a shopping center and a gas station.
What building B held
Rough Draft Atlanta reported that a rooftop air conditioning unit on the Windsor Parkview Apartments, building B, started the fire. The building was left with severe structural damage, including a partially collapsed roof. The ground floor had nearly ten businesses, and all of them closed until further notice.
The list of tenants shows what the building did for the street. It was mostly the kind of place you go for a quick lunch, a cone after dinner, or a burger on a weeknight.
| Building B tenant | What it offered | Where it stood in mid-October |
|---|---|---|
| Bad Daddy's Burger Bar | Casual burgers, open since January 8, 2018 | Not reopening at this location |
| Rreal Tacos | Tacos | Planned to reopen in early November |
| Playa Bowls | Bowls | Closed |
| Freddo Gelato | Gelato, opened September 2025 | Closed |
| Cookie Cutters | Cookies | Closed until further notice as of May |
| The Alden | Chef's counter dinner, Michelin-recommended | Closed |
| Bishop Cuts & Color Chamblee, Hero Restoration, The Piedmont Bank | Salon, restoration services, banking | Closed until further notice as of May |
Tomorrow's News Today Atlanta reported on October 13 that Bad Daddy's signage had come off the building and the Chamblee location had been dropped from the company's website. The outlet said an employee at another Atlanta-area Bad Daddy's confirmed the Chamblee restaurant would not return. The same report said water damage from the fire added to the closures. Bad Daddy's still runs metro locations in Decatur, Marietta and Smyrna.
The same report said Rreal Tacos planned to reopen in early November, the only building B tenant with a stated return window. Freddo had been open for about eight months when the fire closed it.
Suites A and D now carry dinner
Two restaurants on the stretch kept serving because they sit in separate buildings that the fire did not directly affect, according to Tomorrow's News Today. Both are full dinner rooms, and that is why the strip now leans toward sit-down meals.
Fúdo, 5070 Peachtree Blvd., Suite A-100. Eater Atlanta described it as a Japanese cafe and sushi bar with small plates, sushi and cocktails when owners John and Grace Lee held its grand opening in January 2019. It is the only restaurant left at Parkview that opens for weekday lunch.
Lagarde American Eatery, 5090 Peachtree Blvd., Suite D-100. Lagarde's own site describes New Orleans-inspired cooking built around Gulf seafood, with French and Italian technique and Cajun influences. It serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday and brunch on weekends. When it opened in late 2019, What Now Atlanta identified Leonardo Moura and chef Jamie Adams as owners, with the concept developed by Adams.
Here are the posted hours for both:
- Fúdo: Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday noon to 11 p.m.; Sunday noon to 9 p.m.
- Lagarde kitchen: Tuesday through Thursday 4:30 to 9 p.m.; Friday 4:30 to 10 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed Mondays.
On a weekday between lunch and 4:30 p.m., Fúdo is the only one of the two serving. On a Monday night, it has the strip to itself.
After the kitchens close, the evening moves up the block
Lagarde's kitchen closes at 9 or 10 p.m., and Fúdo's latest close is 11 on Friday and Saturday. For later than that, the nearest option is up the road at Block & Drum, 5105 Peachtree Blvd., Building B. Block & Drum is a venue, not a single restaurant. It mixes food and drink concepts with live music, DJ sets and cultural programming in an indoor-outdoor space. It also makes its own craft spirits with a vacuum still, using botanicals from an on-site hydroponic vertical farm. Guests can tour the production and build a custom infused bottle.
Its posted hours run Wednesday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. until late, and Saturday and Sunday from 5 p.m. until late. Events are listed on its Eventbrite page, and it posts a parking map. On weekends, that means dinner at Fúdo or Lagarde and a late set at Block & Drum, all on the same stretch of Peachtree Boulevard.
Counter-service meals moved down Peachtree
Burgers, sandwiches and tacos are still close by. They just sit farther from the MARTA end of the boulevard now, and nothing in a Parkview storefront has replaced them.
Potbelly opened its first Georgia location on September 1 at Peachtree Station Shopping Center, 5001 Peachtree Blvd., Suite 640, according to the company's announcement. Atlanta News First covered the opening and a grand-opening event on September 19. For the sandwich chain's first Georgia store, the company chose a Chamblee shopping center on the same boulevard.
JMAC Burgers & Tacos opened in July at 4301 North Peachtree, inside a Shell station. Rough Draft Atlanta's July openings roundup lists smash burgers, tacos and chicken sandwiches. That covers most of what the Bad Daddy's and Rreal Tacos pair used to serve at Parkview.
The casual tier lost one more name this fall. Moondog Pub & Grub, across the way at 5077 Peachtree Road, ended service on October 30, as What Now Atlanta reported. With Moondog, Bad Daddy's and the rest of building B gone, the Peachtree stretch near Parkview has fewer burger-and-a-beer options than it did in April. Its sit-down dinner rooms are unchanged.
Where The Alden has been cooking
The highest-profile loss in building B was its one dinner room. Chef Jared Hucks, an Atlanta native, opened The Alden at Parkview on Peachtree in 2018. The name combines his middle name with an Old English word meaning "old friend." The restaurant became known for its chef's counter and for dishes like chilled English pea soup, lavender-infused roast chicken, and black ink bucatini fra diavolo. Michelin recommended it in its 2023, 2024 and 2025 guides.
In May, Hucks told Rough Draft Atlanta:
"The building remains in the mitigation and evaluation phase, and we've been advised that the overall process could take months – though no confirmed timeline has been established."
Since then, Hucks has cooked away from Chamblee. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in July on an Alden brunch takeover at Ecco Buckhead on July 18 and 19, with more pop-ups planned that summer, including a September collaboration. In mid-October, Tomorrow's News Today listed The Alden among the Parkview restaurants that were still closed. Following The Alden's own channels is the most direct way to catch its next pop-up.
December pulls the evening toward Broad Street
The holiday calendar shifts Chamblee's busiest evenings off the boulevard and into downtown. The city's Holiday Hoopla of Lights goes up in downtown Chamblee the weekend after Thanksgiving, which falls on November 28 and 29 this year, and stays up until early January. The festival's organizers suggest picking up eggnog from a nearby restaurant and walking the entertainment district, with photo spots in front of City Hall.
The Holiday Hoopla festival itself is listed by Discover DeKalb for Friday, December 4, 2026, at Chamblee City Hall, 3518 Broad Street. The program includes a holiday marketplace and crafts, photos with Santa, pet photos with the Grinch, storytimes, performances, a Christmas tree lighting and a menorah ceremony. Final details are posted on the Holiday Hoopla site.
On Hoopla night, Fúdo is open until 11 p.m., Lagarde's kitchen until 10 p.m., and Block & Drum opens at 6:30 p.m. That leaves time for the tree lighting downtown and dinner on Peachtree Boulevard afterward.
