Welcome to Buckhead

When you think of Buckhead, you might initially think of high-end shopping, and you wouldn’t be wrong. Buckhead can certainly satisfy any shopper with Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza and plenty of boutiques sprinkled throughout, but there’s much more than retail therapy to this popular hub of Atlanta. Buckhead was  founded by Henry Irby in the 1800s and was known as a gathering  place when a “Buck’s” head was placed on a post for people to  gather and admire. That small gathering place known as “Buckhead”, has grown to the area we know today, the heart of Atlanta’s financial district, and is a destination for outstanding dining, luxury retail, real estate and much more.  Buckhead Village, a particular area of interest, was developed for sophisticated shopping, boutique restaurants and other luxury experiences. It’s also the location of the Buckhead Fine Arts Festival, a two-day event that brings artists and visitors from all over the country to admire a variety of media. Other anticipated and popular festivals include the NovemBEER Fest, the Chastain Park Arts Festival and the Buckhead Beer and Wine Festival.

Many of the original estates in Buckhead were built far off the roads on large, wooded lots as a retreat for summer and country homes. To allow for further development and expansion, portions of the land from those larger estates were sold off for the creation of smaller neighborhoods such as Tuxedo Park, Mount Paran, Pine Hills and Chastain area. If you love architecture, Buckhead has an array of unique architecture and styles of homes throughout in some of Atlanta’s wealthiest neighborhoods, including French-inspired Chateaus, English Tudor, Georgian Revival, Regency, Mediterranean, Colonial and for the last several years modern homes.

Buckhead is home to Piedmont Hospital and offers some of the finest restaurants and hotel accommodations in the Southeast region. And, yes, Buckhead may be associated with affluent living, but there are plenty of housing options in the area designed to fit various budgets. If Buckhead is your dream, there’s good reason it can come true!  And for anyone who has not yet experienced what Buckhead has to offer, it is well worth the trip!
